Wilma Guy's Obituary
Wilma Guy, age 97, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on February 21, 2022 at 7:24 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Wilma was born on July 22, 1924 in Pinckneyville, IL, to Charles N. and Maude (Reisinger) Guy, who had three other children, Loren "Dale", Doris Guy Becker and David "Wayne". Both of her parents and her three siblings preceded her in death, as did her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Guy and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Reisinger, her niece, Carol Becker Rose, seven aunts and six uncles, and various cousins. At the writing of this obituary, one first cousin, Sandra Lewis of Birmingham, AL, is the closest living relative to Wilma.
From an early age, Wilma was taken to First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL by her parents, and at the age of 12, she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and was baptized by Dr. W.T. Waring. Following that Wilma taught several Sunday School classes over the years.
Wilma asked that special recognition be paid to Shane Malawy, who was caregiver to Wilma since the death of her last brother, Dale, who died in 2002. Wilma stated several times if it weren't for Shane's good care, she would not be able to remain in her home, which she preferred doing, for as long as she did. Shane was not only a friend to Wilma's two brothers, he also became a friend to Wilma as well.
Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Jay Lowder officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL or the donor's choice.
