Russell Allen "Russ" Eubanks' Obituary
Russell Allen Eubanks, age 86, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 6:21 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Emergency Room, Pinckneyville, IL.
Russ was born on December 31, 1935 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to George Russell and Hazel Lucille (Stevenson) Eubanks. On August 12, 1961 he married Sharon Kay Fulk in Pinckneyville, IL, and she survives. Russ served in the United States Army as PFC from February 1957 until February 1959. He completed his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science and he was awarded the National Science Foundation Grant. Russ taught science and math for many years in Steeleville, IL, after teaching math for four years in Rio Grande, Ohio, at the college. He was a strong Christian in faith from a teenager. Russ will be most remembered by his love of nature, kindness and piano talents, especially his own rendition of "Pop Goes the Weasel".
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Sharon Kay Eubanks of Pinckneyville, IL; two children, David (Melinda) Eubanks of Greenville, SC, and Amy (Robert) Whalen of Dunlap, TN; four grandchildren, Daniel (Molly) Whalen of Fairfax, VA, Amanda (Kevin) Derendorf of Princeton, NJ, Sean Whalen of Knoxville, TN, and Krista Eubanks of Greenville, SC; and a large beloved family
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Benjamin Neal Eubanks, Sr.
Because of health concerns for the community, a private family service will be held. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Perry County Humane Society.
