Paul Dean Hoffman's Obituary
Paul Dean Hoffman, age 81, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away at 10:36 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Dean was born on June 21, 1930 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Harry and Clara (Hubler) Hoffman. On September 3, 1949, he married Charlotte Hawkins in Oceola, AR and she survives. Dean was a foreman for Amoco Chemical Oil for 22 years and was a member of the Laborers Local Union in Granite City, IL. He was a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL, where he also served as a trustee and was a door greeter. Dean loved gardening, jigsaw puzzles, reading, the Civil War, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family, church family, and friends. Dean is survived by his loving wife; four daughters, Jo Ella (Gary) Day of Sandwich, IL, Jean (Rick) Lucas of Tokyo, Japan, Jane (Mark) Cottrill of Bourbon, IN, and Janet Hoffman of Pinckneyville, IL; eight grandchildren, Hollie Day, Jeremy (Cassie) Day, Shannon (Brian) Kasputis, Matthew (Brandie) Cottrill, Nathan (Kayla) Cottrill, Timothy (Amede) Lucas, Andrew Lucas, and Jason Lucas: six great-grandchildren, Carter, Madison, Dylan, Delaney, Morgan, and Mason; numerous nieces; nephews; a loving pastor; church family; and his beloved miniature schnauzer, Gretta Sue. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harry "Bud" Hoffman; five sisters, Louise Frederking, Alice Faye Hoffman, Loraine Frederking, Iona Overend, and Ilene Ruprecht; Funeral services will be held at the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend J. Mark Harris, Sr officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at the First Pentecostal Church in Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
