Joseph A. Bathon, age 79 of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 4:50 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Emergency Room, Pinckneyville, IL. Joe was born on July 8, 1930 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Adam A. and Mary E. (Buschschulte) Bathon. Joe was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a past member of St. Bruno Catholic Church. He was a coal miner at Consol Burning Star #5, hauled livestock for several years and was a farmer. Joe was a member of the Saddle Club, Coon Club, past member of Knights of Columbus Hall, and Thresherman's Club. He enjoyed coon hunting, horses and mules, camping bailing hay and farming. Joe is survived by a brother, Clarence Bathon of Pinckneyville, IL, a sister, Barbara M. (Carl J.) Giacomo of Pinckneyville, IL, a brother-in-law, Wilbert Kellerman of Addieville, IL, a sister-in-law, Lavonne BAthon of Pinckneyville, IL, nineteen nieces and nephews, twenty-six great-nieces and nephews and four great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Matilda Kellerman, Clara Brand and Bertha Bathon; a brother, Albert F. Bathon, a brother-in-law, Eddie Brand, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Bathon. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on January 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Heart Association or St. Bruno Catholic School.
