Jacky "Jack" R. Stone's Obituary
Jacky R. “Jack” Stone, age 90, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 5:26 p.m., in Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare, DuQuoin, IL.
Jack was born on September 27, 1934, in Perry County, IL, a son to James L. and Ida May (Huffman) Stone. Jack was a member of First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. On December 11, 1951, he married Delores Dorett Davison in Hernando, MS, and she survives. He worked and retired as a railroad clerk for Illinois Central Railroad. Jack was a member at the Mitchell Lodge 85 AF & AM, Pinckneyville, IL and a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed gardening, collecting coins and arrowheads. Jack was an avid squirrel hunter and fisherman. He loved riding motorcycles and belonged to the Gold Wing Riders Club. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 73 years, Delores Dorett Stone of DuQuoin, IL; two children, Tom (Shari) Stone of Freeburg, IL and Debbie (Chuck) Stone-Smith of Conway, SC; one daughter-in-law, Mary Stone of Pinckneyville, IL; one sister, Janet Moore; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Stone; one brother, James Stone; and three sisters, Delores Pursell, June Hicks, and Peggy Steele.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., with Dr. Roger Marshall officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL.
Friends may call at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with Masonic Rites performed by Mitchell Lodge 85 AF & AM at 12:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
