Dear Connie & family,
I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing.
I have warm memories of your mom. She was always so welcoming to me when I came to visit--which was pretty often. One time, Connie, I was at your house and you'd invited me to stay for supper. Your mom wasn't home and I was a hesitant since she hadn't invited me. This was summertime and when your mom came in she started yelling, "It's raining! Get the windows closed!" We started rushing around shutting windows and I was thinking, "Ooh, she's kind of upset, this is a bad time for Connie to invite me." After the windows were closed, you said, "Mom, it's ok for Susan to stay for supper, isn't it?" Your mom, with her hair wet from running thru the rain, looked at me, smiled a big smile, and said, "Of course it is!" After these 40 years, I still remember how welcomed & relieved I felt. There's been many times since, even recently, that someone will look at me with worried, questioning eyes and I will smile great big and say, "Of course!" And each time, I think of your mom.
No wildly exciting tales to tell about my experiences with your mom. Just a good example of how she touched my life very gently, and there was & is a ripple effect.
I love the picture that accompanied the obituary. I love that sweet smile.
With love & sympathy,
Susan
