Harold T. Hagel's Obituary
Harold T. Hagel, age 73, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 6:02 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Harold was born on December 1, 1949 in Pueblo, CO a son to Lloyd and Hester (Gordon) Hagel. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. On June 7, 1969, he married Lylia Fisher and she survives. Harold had worked as a radio announcer, coal miner, and a tech at Chester Mental Health. He was peaceful when he left us. To his family and friends, Harold will always be an intelligent, sports and crossword enthusiast, intriguing, non-judgmental, accident prone, incredible storyteller, massive music buff, movie quoting, makes you fall down laughing kinda guy. A man that through his own faults taught them to have courage and humility. Harold also loved Cardinal baseball, Blues hockey, and watching his two grandsons play sports.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lylia Hagel of Pinckneyville, IL; son, Shay Hagel (life partner, Angie Biehl and her daughters, Ashley and Allyson) of Red Bud, IL; daughter, Jenny (Shane) Signorino of St. Louis, MO; sister, Sharon Woodside of DuQuoin, IL; brother, Rodney Hagel of Lake of Egypt, IL; brother-in-law, Rick (Marilyn) Fisher of Pinckneyville, IL; sister-in-law, June (Lyle) Kellerman of Pinckneyville, IL; two grandsons, Nic (Addie) Hagel and Austin (Ella) Hagel; granddog, Sam Hagel; eight nieces and nephews, Shaysa, Dylan, Devin, Alex, Cassie, Cory, Chesney, and Thad; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews, Lexi, Cameron, Blair, Trace, Tyler, Lyle Dean, and Glory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Hester Hagel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lyle and Imogene Fisher; sister, Karon Hepp; brother-in-law, Richard Woodside; and nephew, Caby Hepp.
Funeral services will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in Holts Prairie Cemetery with military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the family to be used for therapy and equipment for Harold's grandson who was seriously injured in a car accident.
