Elizabeth "Bette" Setzkorn's Obituary
Elizabeth "Bette" Setzkorn, age 100 of Herrin, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 2:20 p.m. in her home, Herrin, IL.
Bette was born on May 16, 1921 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to George J. and Rose C. (Schneider) Mann. Bette was a nurse at Herrin Hospital for 30 years before retirement. She enjoyed gardening, tending her roses, and growing and sharing her miracle cure balsam. She loved sewing, and cooking for her family, especially chicken and dumplings, bread pudding, and icebox cookies. Her passion was doing truly amazing ceramic artwork for her family.
For a span of over 40 years, Bette provided food, mothering, love and guidance to many generations of nieces and nephews that attended SIU.
Survivors include her brother, Robert "Bob" Mann; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregiver and friend, Judy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy Mann, Helen Hutchinson, Mary Mann and Barbara Ann Mann; brothers, James, Arthur, George "Bill" Mann, and John "Jack" Mann; and former husband, Karl Setzkorn.
Graveside services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with Father Robert Flannery officiating. Interment will be at St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
