Donald D. Hicks' Obituary
Donald D. Hicks, age 76, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11:56 a.m. in Murphysboro, IL, surrounded by his family.
Donald was born on November 8, 1944 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Dale E. and Nadine (Shute) Hicks. On August 3, 1962, he married Betty Ruth Mathenia at Beaucoup Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, IL. She preceded him in death on February 4, 1998. Donald was co-owner of Hicks Gun Store with his brother, Kevin and was a member of Denmark Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, U.M.W.A. for twenty-two years, the N.R.A. and American Coon Hunters Association. He raised coon dogs and would ship them all over the United States. Donald was a competitive coon hunter and loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his one son, Travis (Sara) Hicks of Pinckneyville, IL; two daughters, Sherry Graskewicz of Murphysboro, IL and Donna (Todd) Neel of Fredericktown, MO; eight grandchildren, Daphne (Luis) Prado, Skyler (Olivia) Graskewicz; Amanda (Craig) Duvardo, Brandon Long, Nick McKinstry, Trenton Hicks, Wyatt Gale, And Remy Hicks; four great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Gage, and Lainey Graskewicz, Henry Prado, and two coming soon, Olin Scott Duvardo and Harlow Nadine Prado; one brother, Kevin (Rhonda) Hicks of Pinckneyville, IL; and fiancée/ best friend, Twyla Panus of Murphysboro, IL;.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Hicks, and his beloved dog, Annie Bell.
A graveside service will be held at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Marty DeRouche officiating.
Visitation will be held at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Due to covid-19 virus, attendance will be limited and social distancing will be enforced. All attendees are asked to wear a mask.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.
