Derek Hasse's Obituary
Derek Hasse, age 79, of Rockford, IL, passed away on March 10, 2010 in St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Derek was born on February 23, 1931 in Norwich, England, a son to Mabel Cohen. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Albert Hasse. In 1950, he married Sally Breimeier in New Salem, ND and she survives. Derek was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War, received a master's degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois, and was the vice-president of human resources for ELCO Industries, Rockford, IL, retiring after 26 years. He attended Our Savior Lutheran Church, Rockford, IL and served on the board of directors for Generations Credit Union, Rockford, IL. Derek was very physically active, an avid golfer and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Derek is survived by his wife, a daughter, Michele (Bruce) Rheinecker of Pinckneyville, IL, two sons, Mark Hasse of Sioux City, IA and Michael Hasse of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Derek (Janna) Pollock, Stephanie Hasse, Megan Hasse, Jane Ann (David) Hock and Lynn Beth Rheinecker; a great-grandchild, Carter Easton Pollock, an uncle, Louis (Muriel) Cohen and a cousin, Phil (Eileen) Cohen. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Carpenter's Place, Rockford, IL or The Salvation Army. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
