I knew Derek for many years while I worked at the Praire Area Library System (formerly Northern Illinois Library System). I was very sad to hear he passed away. He was a very sweet and dear man, and I will miss him very much. My condolences to Sally and his family.

No words can express the loss that we all have. We really enjoyed Derek. When we were younger, we would get together. Derek liked to go out for dinner and we can remember the good times that we had at the Ramkota and East Forty.
If we could of found a reasonalbe airfare this week, we would have been there. Tomorrow, we will be with you in thought and praying that the Lord will be with all of you.

I always enjoyed Derek during our years in high school back in New Salem.
Dear Sally and family,
Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Derek. I will always remember his strong voice and contagious laughter. Although many years have passed since my Dad and Derek were young boys in England, Phil misses him a lot.
