Delores "Dorett" Stone's Obituary
Delores “Dorett” Stone, age 91, of DuQuoin, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 5:13 p.m., in Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.
Dorett was born on May 11, 1934 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Tom and Emily (Huntley) Davison. Dorett was a member of First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. On December 11, 1951, she married Jack Stone in Hernando, MS, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2025. She worked as a hairdresser for many years. Dorett was a member of the Ladies Home extension and Gold Wing Club which is how she saw most of the Continental U.S., on the back of a motorcycle. She enjoyed gardening, decorating cakes, crafts, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Dorett loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Tom (Shari) Stone of Freeburg, IL and Debbie (Chuck) Stone-Smith of Conway, SC; one daughter-in-law, Mary Stone of Pinckneyville, IL; special friend, Gabby Sprague; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; one son, David Stone; and two brothers, Jack Davison and Dale Davison.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Roger Marshall officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL.
Friends may call at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
