We wish to send our deepest condolences and sympathies to all of the families of Dorett Stone. We will never forget the hospitality that Dorett and Jack extended to us on the holidays at their homes in Pinckneyville with the family. Michael wanted to stay close with his father's families. We were always welcome at their home. When the train derailment in Tamaroa occurred in February of 2003, Dorett and Jack opened their home to me, my brothers, Sonny, Skeegee, and Kristen, in Illinois to visit myself from California. We stayed almost 5 days while Michael stayed in Tamaroa with the Fire Department. Jack took us on a siteseeing tour of Alto Pass, Bald Knob, etc. Dorett would stay up into the early morning hours playing cards with Kristen, who was very young but loved it so much. Many memories with the entire Stone families that we will hold onto forever. Dorett was able to reach the age of 91 on Mother's Day and was celebrated at our church, Tamaroa Independent Pentecostal Church, as the oldest Mother in attendance. She lived a full life and we are grateful to be part of this Celebration of Life. May God reunite David, Jack, and Dorett in heaven. May God comfort those who remain and keep them in our prayers. 🙏
