Wilma "Billy" Bartle Berg's Obituary
Billy Bartle, child of Pinckneyville is returning to Pinckneyville for the last time. She completes her life with the same celebration of spring that marked almost all of her years. Pinckneyville in springtime had its bouquet of daffodils, tulips and forsythia weeks before her home in Chicago. Pinckneyville also held the memories of a happy childhood and a loving family and the "Bartle Hill" full of a cast of beloved characters and all of the activity of a farm and a life close to nature. So here she is again, surrounded by the family and friends that enlightened and informed her life and the love she has passed forward and shared with so many. She returns in the arms of her children who love and honor the traditions and memories of her Pinckneyville where her soul filled to the brim with joy and love that lasted a lifetime. Wilma "Billy" Bartle Berg (born August 23, 1919) passed April 21, 2015 peacefully at home in Park Ridge, IL, comforted by her family and friends. She was born in Pinckneyville, IL. Her family has been in America since before the revolution and her ancestor, Thomas Moore, was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois, wife of a prisoner of World War II, and part owner of the V.E. Berg & Sons (Chicago IL). She was a leader in her community for almost 70 years being past president or officer of many organizations including Panhellenic, PEO, Twentieth Century Club, and Gamma Phi Beta of Park Ridge. She was a lifelong Methodist She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister and beloved by her daughter, Judy Berg Reddington, sons Robert and William and son-in-law Joe Reddington and is survived by her Sister, Minta Jean Hemphill, grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Graveside services will be held at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the local arrangements.
