William "Bill" Miles' Obituary
William "Bill" Miles, age 81, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away at 9:35 a.m., on Monday, August 5, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on November 7, 1942 in Sparta, IL, a son to Frank Luster and Ima Mae (Patton) Miles. On September 4, 1965, he married Linda Jean Pabst at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives him. He honorably served his country, stateside during the Vietnam War, in the United States Air Force. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. For thirty-nine and a half years Bill worked as a Bindery Supervisor for World Color Press, first in Sparta, IL and then in Merced, CA. He enjoyed piddling in his shed and watching NASCAR races. Always the "cool dude" in the room, he had an amazing smile under his iconic mustache. Bill was lovingly known by several names, such as Pop, Pop Pop, Uncle Bull or Mr. Bill to all of his family and friends. His true passion and love in life was his family, especially spending time with his grandsons.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Miles of Pinckneyville, IL; one son, Mark William (Karen) Miles of Patterson, CA; one daughter, Rhonda Kay (Dave) Lovato of Merced, CA; one brother, Hugh Dean (Susan) Miles of Steeleville, IL; two grandsons, Jacob Miles and Noah Miles; one step-granddaughter, Lauren Lovato; two step great-grandchildren, Isabella and Ryder; many other dear family; and a whole host of friends that he considered part of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ima Miles; father-in-law, Fred "Hun" Pabst; mother-in-law, Ruth Pabst; one brother, Jimmy Ray Miles; and one sister, Russelyn Kay Miles-Pea.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Leanne Noland officiating. Following the service, it was Bill's wish to be cremated.
Visitation will be at the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Auxiliary or to the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
