William "Bill" Jarrett's Obituary
William "Bill" Jarrett, age 90, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 8:10 p.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL, listening to his favorite music, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on December 7, 1930 in Coulterville, IL, a son to Cordell C. and Margaret M. (Khoury) Jarrett. On September 8, 1951, he married Jeanetta L. Toensing and she survives him. He retired from General Motors after 31 years, as a master electrician. Bill loved working and playing on computers, he even had his own YouTube channel. He created videos and made several DVDs and music Cds for family and friends. Bill worked and organized bingo for the St. Anthony Men's Club, enjoyed fishing with his father, cooking his famous chili for the preschool and the community and being a boy scout leader for pack #362. Bill was a passionate person who gave his all when he did something, especially when he was; the president of the school board, served on the city council, served as the Mayor of Coulterville for 16 years, and served on the Coulterville Care Center board. Bill was a member of the American Legion, and a founding member of the St. Anthony Men's Club. He was also an avid Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanetta Jarrett of Coulterville, IL; four children, Cynthia (Doyce) Tabing of Coulterville, IL, Cheryl Jarrett Hood of Sparta, IL, William (Stacey) Jarrett of Aurora, IL, and Robert "Bob" (Missy) Jarrett of Coulterville, IL; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Catherine Leisure; his beloved dog, Sophie; and many other dear family and friends. Bill had a magnetic personality and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Tadeusz J. Gegotek officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Coulterville Historical Society and to the Coulterville Cemetery Fund.
