William "Bill" Edward Rainey's Obituary
William "Bill" Edward Rainey, age 70, of Coulterville, IL, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, September 6, 2018.
Bill was born on January 31, 1948 in Coulterville, IL, a son to Lawrence Everett and Blanch Mae (Folden) Rainey. He attended Coulterville High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served with the U.S. Marines from 1966 to 1969, during the Vietnam War. He married Judy Burris of Swanwick, IL in 1968. They raised three children, their daughters, Angie and Brandy, and their son, "Little" Bill. He was a proud coal miner for many years and also worked as a jailer at Randolph County. He eventually retired from the State of Illinois. Bill was a devoted member of the Coulterville V.F.W. Drill Team. He enjoyed working outdoors, camping with loved ones, performing in The Cabin Fever Gang, visiting with his brother, John, cutting grass, traveling the world with his grandchildren, helping his children, and spending every day with his loving wife, Judy. Bill was a Christian and longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Coulterville, IL.
His family, wife of 50 years, Judy of Coulterville, IL; daughters, Angie (Brian) Reid of Coulterville, IL and Brandy Gardner of Coulterville, IL; grandchildren, Jimmy Gardner, Jessica (Brock) Waldrup, Rachael Reid, Brian Reid, Bailey Rainey, and Bill Rainey; brother, John (Donna) Rainey of Coulterville, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed Burris of Coulterville, IL, Mick Burris of Gibsonton, FL, Bob (Wendy) Burris of Vicksburg, MI, Ken Burris, Don (Whitney) Burris of Muncie, IN, and Sally (Philip) Hepp of Coulterville, IL; and countless family friends plan to keep his memory alive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence Rainey and Delmond Rainey; brothers-in-law, Terry Burris, Roger Burris and Joe Burris; and his son, Bill.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Jeff Downard officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL with military graveside rites by Coulterville V.F.W. Post #6865.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
