William "BIll" L. Bender's Obituary
William "Bill" L. Bender, age 85, of Mt. Vernon, IL formally of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday July 16, 2017 at 1:54 p.m. in Lavender Ridge Dignified Memory Care, Mt. Vernon, IL. Bill was born on April 24, 1932 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to William J. and Charlotte (Loos) Bender. He was a proud veteran in the United States Army having served as a Corporal during the Korean War. On September 8, 1962, he married Deloris Mohr at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville, IL, and she survives. Bill was self-employed as a farmer dealing with hog, cattle and grain. He was also a part-time carpenter and mail carrier. Bill was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL. He loved farming, hunting and trapping. He served on the rural fire department, the 205 school board, the church council, the Sunday school board and was an FSA committeeman. He loved playing cards and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife, Deloris Bender of Pinckneyville, IL; three children, Beth (John) Priebe of Pinckneyville, IL, Linda (Kevin) Klingenberg of Nashville, IL and William J. (Miranda) Bender of Pinckneyville, IL; four grandchildren, Erica and Jacob Crews, Kelsie and Kyler Klingenberg and one on the way; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Bender and Elda Klausing both of Pinckneyville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Larry Bender; and two sisters, Margorie and Charlotte Bender. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Cindy Bean offficating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or SSM Hospice at Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL.
