William Stewart Beggs, Jr.'s Obituary
William Stewart Beggs, Jr., age 85, of St. Louis, MO, died on Saturday, March 24, 2007 in St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Bill was born on November 13, 1921 in Coulterville, Illinois, a son to William S. and Alice (Etienne) Beggs. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II as a Radar Technician 3rd Class on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Saratoga. Bill married Cora M. McNeill on June 19, 1944 in St. Louis, MO and she survives. In his lifetime he had worked as a tool design engineer at Curtis-Wright Aviation Co., then at McDonnell-Douglas, and later at Boeing. He was a member of the Societe Francais, St. Louis, V.F.W., and National Icarian Society. Survivors include his wife Cora M. Beggs of St. Louis, MO, one son: William Stewart Beggs III and his wife Denise of St. Louis, MO, one daughter: Pamela Beggs Johnston and her husband Chuck of St. Louis, MO, and two grandchildren: Brian Churchill Johnston of St. Louis, MO, and Brittany Boland Beggs of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son: Thomas Etienne Beggs. Private Graveside Services will be held in the Coulterville Cemetery on Tuesday, March 27, 2007. Because of his love of his family's German shepherds, memorials may be made to the Animal Protective Association of St. Louis.
