Wilbur F. "Web" Scronce's Obituary
Wilbur F. "Web" Scronce, age 90, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 1:55 p.m. in Fair Acres Rehabilitation and Care Center, DuQuoin, IL. Web was born on September 3, 1922 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Jeff and Clara (Alvis) Scronce. On July 16, 1955 he married Ruby Brown in DuQuoin, IL, and she survives. They celebrated 57 ½ wonderful years together. He attended services at the Old DuQuoin Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL and worked as a coal miner retiring after 28 years from Freeman #6 mine in Waltonville, IL. He was also the street director for the City of DuQuoin, IL for 7 years and a member of the U.M.W.A. He enjoyed gardening and dearly loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Ruby Scronce of DuQuoin, IL; one son, Wilbur E. "Webbie" (Kim) Scronce of Bradenton, FL.; one daughter, Terri Lyn (Ron) Pyron of DuQuoin, IL; four grandchildren, Lindsey and Landon Pyron, Rhiannon and Caleb Scronce; one great grandchild, Layne Pyron; two sisters, Betty Christian of Highland, IL and Mary Ellen Kelley of Las Vegas, NV: and many numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elvis Brown and Thelma Byers; two brothers, Dwight E. and Jefferson E. Scronce; three sisters, Lois Shockley, Helen Smith and Lola Scronce and a nephew Jimmy Brigham. Web's wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
