Wilber Lee Pursell's Obituary
Wilber Lee Pursell, age 76, of Pinckneyville, passed away Monday afternoon, April 30, 2007 at 4:50 p.m. at his residence. Wilber was born December 13, 1930 in Pinckneyville, IL the son of Ira Lee and Jeanette (Brown) Pursell. Wilber worked as a machinist in the coal mining industry, was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist in Pinckneyville, IL, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Wilber loved to play music. He played with several area bands and enjoyed playing for the local senior citizens. Wilber is survived by two sons, Gene Pursell and wife Marsha of Tamaroa, IL, William Pursell of Pinckneyville, IL, two daughters, Connie Shute and husband Sam of Pinckneyville, IL, Kathy Pierce of Murfreesboro, TN, one brother, Larry Pursell of Pinckneyville, IL, grandchildren, Nate Pursell and wife Elizabeth, Courtney Johns and husband Wes, Shannon Pursell and wife Michelle, Dustin Hatfield, Kim Brand and husband Chad, Kara Kuhnert and husband Dale, Kery Shute and wife Stephanie, Zachary and Andrea Pierce, twelve great-grandchildren, and a special companion, Thelma Roscoe. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Lucille Schorn. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, May 3, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, IL with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and again on the day of the service from 8:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Christian Activity Center of East St. Louis or the Oak Grove Church Building Fund.
