Walter Virgil Szarek's Obituary
Walter Virgil Szarek, age 85, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 8:07 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit. Walter was born on July 13, 1921 in Swanwick, IL, a son to Joseph and Mary (Shay) Szarek. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. On July 13, 1948, he married Lucille Pioter of Pinckneyville at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville and she survives. He was a farmer and had also retired from the former Turco Corporation in DuQuoin after 20 years. He was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife: Lucille of Pinckneyville, one son: Dennis and wife Cindy Szarek of Pinckneyville, one granddaughter: Diana and husband Raymond Baudison of Pinckneyville, and one great-grandson: Bradley Baudison of Pinckneyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Cecelia Kalas, and four brothers: Stanley, Frank, Anton, and Charles Szarek. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. The rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Catholic School or Church Fund.
