Walter Kelly's Obituary
Walter Kelly, age 85, of Tilden, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 12:26 p.m. in his home.
Walter was born on June 6, 1934 in Blue Island, IL, a son to John Henry and Louise (Bartlett) Kelly. On September 9, 1955, he married Sophia Ann "Darlene" Wright in Seneca, IL and she survives. He was a proud retired veteran of over 20 years in the United States Army and the United States Air Force having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Walter had worked for the Village of Coulterville at the water plant for 20 years and was a member of the Coulterville V.F.W., Coulterville, IL and the American Legion, Sparta, IL. He enjoyed eating, reading, and watching television, especially Criminal Minds and cowboy stations.
Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Sophia Ann "Darlene" Kelly of Tilden, IL; three sons, Samuel (Elizabeth) Kelly of High Point, NC, Mason Kelly of Sparta, IL and Dakota Kelly of Tilden, IL; two daughters, Donna Kelly of Tilden, IL and Roxanne (Michael) Sauerhage of Sparta, IL; a brother, Frank Kelly of Vinton, LA; a sister-in-law, Mary Kelly of Branson, MO; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Higgins; two brothers, John Kelly and Donald Kelly; two sisters-in-law, Millie Kelly and Annabelle Kelly; and a nephew, Doug Kelly.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Lee Valerius officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL with military graveside rites by Coulterville V.F.W. Post #6865.
Visitation will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
