Walter L. Bigham's Obituary
Walter L. Bigham, age 96, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 2:40 p.m. in Washington County Hospital, Nashville, IL. Walter was born on August 28, 1915 in Cutler, IL, a son to Frank and Julia (Glasby) Bigham. Walter was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving during WW II. On December 25, 1939, he married Dorothy Willis in Perry County, IL and she preceded him in death in December of 1987. In 1989, he married Margaret Thompson Gerlach in Kentucky and she preceded him in death on November 17, 2000. He attended the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, IL, was employed as a machinist for Wagner Electric in St. Louis, MO and then as a machine operator for Spartan Light Metal Products, Sparta, IL from where he retired. Walter enjoyed taking care of his home, gardening and working around the house. Walter is survived by three sons, James A. (Kay) Bigham of Pinckneyville, IL, Gerald Bigham of Cutler, IL, and Bobby Bigham of Sherman, IL; four grandchildren, Susan Maxey, Keith Allen Bigham, Rachael Bigham, and Celeste Bigham; and three great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; and one brother, Homer Bigham. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Military honors will be provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504 Pinckneyville, IL.
