Vivian J. Keene Steele's Obituary
Vivian J. Keene Steele, age 90, of Lyndon, IL, passed away on November 6, 2016 at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, IL after a brief illness. Vivian was born on August 8, 1926 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Curtis and Edna (Johns) Keene. She graduated from Pinckneyville Community High School in 1944. Shortly after the war, she married Robert H. Barth and he preceded her in death. After her retirement, an old high school friendship was rekindled and she married Fred Steele on October 12, 1996. Vivian was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Morrison, IL and the Stephen Ministry. She was also secretary of the Lyndon Economic Advisory Panel, which helped in designing and financing the Lyndon Veterans Memorial. Vivian is survived by her husband, Fred Steele; son, Robert C. (Edward Davis) Barth; daughter, Barbara J. (Charles) Niedner; four step-children, Greg (Judy) Steele, Jeff (Mary) Steele, Mark (LeeAnn) Steele, Jane (Gary) Harding; brother, William C. Keene; along with thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Robert H. Barth. Graveside services will be held at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Barnett officiating. Friends and family are asked to gather at the cemetery. Memorial may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
