Virginia Ruth Smith's Obituary
Virginia Ruth Smith, age 86, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away at 10:45 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2008 in the Pinckneyville Hospital Skilled Care Unit where she had resided for five years. Virginia was born on October 21, 1921 in Ancho, New Mexico, a daughter to Robert Lee and Habbie Jane (McMillan) Hall. On October 13, 1945, she married Howard Smith in Oakland, CA and he survives. She retired from the Oakland Naval Supply Department in 1966 after 22 years of service and was a former member of the First Baptist Church, Oakland, CA. Virginia is survived by her husband: Howard Smith of Pinckneyville, IL, a brother-in-law: Mick Weatherford of Pinckneyville, IL, and four nieces: Mickey Sue Peveler, her husband: Benny and their son: Benjamin, all of Pinckneyville, Penny Samuelson, her husband: David of Covina, CA, Chris Goodspeed and her husband Charles of Chicago, IL, and Shari Page of Dewey, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Willie Mae Joy and Margaret Jane Cleveland, and four brothers: Joe Neal Hall, Robert Lee Hall, Jr., Louie Hall and Hubert Hall who died in the Battle of the Bulge, World War II. Funeral Services will be held at the Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Roe's Dale Baptist Church or Skilled Care Auxiliary.
