Virginia Helen Higgerson's Obituary
Virginia Helen Higgerson, age 84, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2008 in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Virginia was born on March 7, 1924, in Pinckneyville, IL a daughter to Joseph and Pearl (Carter) Giacomo, Sr. On December 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Vinyard Higgerson in Pinckneyville, IL by the Justice of the Peace and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1980. She was a homemaker, a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Womans Missionary Union of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Tuesday Morning Prayer Group and TOPS Club. Virginia loved the outdoors, fishing, bowling and family gatherings Survivors include two sons: Sam (Nancy) Higgerson of Pinckneyville, IL and Mike (Carolyn) Higgerson of Cutler, IL, two brothers: John (Alice) Giacomo and Nelson (Harriet) Giacomo, both of Pinckneyville, IL and a sister: Dorene Lueker of Pinckneyville, IL, four grandchildren: Samantha Tritchler, Bryan (Paula) Higgerson, Carrie Ford and Cristy (Kevin) Wedemeyer, seven great-grandchildren: Taucha Scott, Tristan, Tayler and Sheldon Tritchler, Tyler Wall, and Ellie and Colton Wedemeyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son: Billy Gene Higgerson, three sisters: Grace Hubler, Zelma Miller and Wilma Wright and a brother: Joseph Giacomo, Jr. Funeral services will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday July 14, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
