Virginia L. Crain, age 84, of Granite City, IL, formerly of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2008 in Granite City Nursing and Rehab, Granite City, IL. Virginia was born on September 5, 1924 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Martin and Ida Mae (Thorman) Presswood. She was a member of the Baptist faith, having previously attended Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Virginia worked as a seamstress for over 30 years at for Bridal Originals in DuQuoin, IL. Survivors include one son: Bobby Joe Crain of DuQuoin, IL, three daughters: Sheila Foster of Granite City, IL, Treva (Ronnie) Bratten of Horseshoe Bend, AR, and Mauna Varner of Pinckneyville, IL, one brother: Max Presswood of Pinckneyville, IL, three sisters: Betty (Morris) Mathieu of Sorento, FL, Melba (Lewis) Effler of Greenville, TN, and Ida Mae Girard of Geneva, IL, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Danny ODell Crain and one brother-in-law: Louie Girard. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Tuesday September 30, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Pinckneyville Health Care Center, Pinckneyville, IL.
