Virgel Hatridge's Obituary
Virgel Hatridge, age 84, of Tilden, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 5:18 a.m. in Sparta Community Hospital Emergency Room, Sparta, IL. Virgel was born on May 10, 1932 in Sparta, IL, a son to George and Ida (Glaspy) Hartridge. On August 13, 1960, he married Madeline Rody in Freeburg, IL and she survives. He attended the First Baptist Church, Tilden, IL and had retired as a coal miner at Peabody Mine Pit 6. He was a member of U.M.W.A., had served the Village of Tilden as mayor from 1985-1989 and also served as a trustee. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and loved spending time with his family and having family barbeques and playing yard games. Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Madeline Hatridge of Tilden, IL; two daughters, Rhonda Hatridge of Belleville, IL and Linda Niehaus of Waterloo, IL; two grandchildren, Vickie Carlyle and Johnny Carlyle; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Sheryl Carlyle; a brother, George Hatridge; and three sisters, Wanda Theabold, Betty McBride and Doris Stone. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Clifton Lingle officiating. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
