Victor Lee Whaley, Sr.'s Obituary
Victor Lee Whaley, Sr., age 71, of Pinckneyville, IL, formerly of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 in Fair Acres Rehab and Care Center, DuQuoin, IL. Victor was born on March 12, 1941 in Lesterville, MO and was raised by his grandparents, Mason and Anna Marie Whaley. He married Nancy Steward and later married Darlene Phillipe. Nancy also lovingly cared for him at the end of his life. Victor moved to southern Illinois in the early 1960's and he opened Whaley's Salvage in 1966. He later opened and managed Whaley's Mobil and Car Sales, Coulterville, IL. He was of the Baptist faith, was an avid poker player at the VFW, Coulterville, IL and enjoyed going to the gambling boat and watching his boys participating in any and all motorsports. Most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his ten children, Dennis Whaley of Foley, MO, Vicky Larger of Atlanta, GA, Anthony Whaley of Benld, IL, Chris (Melissa) Whaley of Benld, IL, Joe (Michelle) Whaley, Mt. Vernon, IN, Michael Secoy of Perryville, MO, Rebecca (Mike) Link of Bethalto, IL, Theresa (Rich) Emling of Pinckneyville, IL, Victor (Nikkole) Whaley of Coulterville, IL and Tim (Meranda) Whaley of Coulterville, IL; thirty-eight grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Lee officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to VNA-Tip Hospice or Fair Acres Rehab and Care Center. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangments.
