Tirzah Jean Kane Chapman's Obituary
Tirzah Jean Kane Chapman, age 85, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 10:54 p.m. at her home.
Tirzah was born on November 5, 1935 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Dr. Ralph Louis and Anne E. (Littell) Kane. On August 13, 1955, she married Dr. Herbert Hugh Chapman in Pinckneyville, IL. She was a lifelong member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, IL where she served as a deacon, part-time organist and Sunday school teacher. She attended the University of Illinois for her pre-nursing studies and then went on to earn her RN degree at Rend Lake Nursing College. She worked as the Perry County Tuberculosis Nurse for many years. Tirzah was a member of the Retired Nurses Education League, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Pinckneyville, IL, charter member of the Beaucoup Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and board member of the Caring and Sharing Thrift Store. She also graduated from clown school.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Dr. Herbert Hugh Chapman of Pinckneyville, IL; her children, David (Denise) Chapman of Destin, FL, Tirzah Reneé (Mike) Skaggs of Pinckneyville, IL, Dr. Ralph (Cathy) Chapman of Pinckneyville, IL and Dr. Nathan Chapman of Murphysboro, IL; ten grandchildren, Amber (Jesse) Phillips, Dr. Emily Slechticky (Dr. Franklin Payne), Kristin Slechticky, Darren Chapman, Kaylea Slechticky, Daryl Chapman, Preston (Dr. Mallory) Chapman, Ryan Chapman, Olivia Chapman and Alex Chapman; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Phillips and Easton Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, JoAnne Kirkland.
Private family services will be held with Reverend Sam Foskey officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Covid resurgence restrictions will be adhered to, attendance will be limited and social distancing will be enforced. All attendees are asked to wear a mask.
Memorial donations may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church.
