Teddy Joe "Ted" Pyatt's Obituary
Teddy Joe "Ted" Pyatt, age 80, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 12:36 a.m. in DuQuoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, DuQuoin, IL.
Ted was born at his family's farm on December 30, 1943 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Eugene and Alberta Pyatt. He married Marilyn Caldwell on October 12, 1962 at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, and she survives. Ted was a 1961 graduate of Pinckneyville Community High School, where he received the American Farmer Degree in FFA. He was a farmer at Pyatt Brothers Farm and a coal miner. Ted began working in 1966 at Captain Mine, after the mine closed he worked several years for Nascote Industries in Nashville, IL.
Teddy was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL where he was baptized in 1973. He served as a Deacon, a trustee, and a substitute Sunday school teacher. Ted was an avid coon hunter, a St. Louis Cardinal's fan, and a proud Pinckneyville Panther fan.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Pyatt of Pinckneyville, IL; three children, Gail (Kevin) Batteau, Michael (Leeann) Pyatt, and Clint (Jessica) Pyatt, all of Pinckneyville, IL; seven grandchildren, Meghan Pyatt, Taylor (Alicia) Pyatt, Austin (Hayley) Pyatt, Luke Batteau, Grant Batteau, Shea Pyatt, and Miner Pyatt; three great-grandchildren, Houston, Kendrick, and Foster; one brother, Paul (Joyce) Pyatt; sister-in-law, Angie Pyatt; brother-in-law, Jim (Eleanor) Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert Gene "Bob" Pyatt.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with Dr. Jay Lowder officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Home in Carmi, IL or The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital-Transplant Patient Care Fund.
