Sylvia V. James' Obituary
Sylvia V. James, age 92, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 4:25 p.m. in Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, DuQuoin, IL. Sylvia was born on February 20, 1924 in Corning, AR, a daughter to Luther and Martha (Weaver) Case. On October 24, 1942, she married Troy James in Corning, AR and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2002. Sylvia was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL, was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class and had worked at Country Set, DuQuoin, IL for several years. She was a member of the DuQuoin Saddle Club and worked in the concession stand for many years. Sylvia enjoyed canning and loved to work in her yard and garden. Survivors include two sons, Allen (Sheila) James of DuQuoin, IL and Lonnie (Patty) James of DuQuoin, IL, nine grandchildren, Troy (Chris) James, Kenneth (Paula) James, Travis James, Scott (Kristina) James, Russell (Kim) James, Rhonda (Chris) Eisenhauer, Lori (John) Gross, Crystal (Darin) Rogers and Jason James; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Sterling (Lynn) Case of Loves Park, IL and one sister, Julie McKinney of Hardy, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Troy; one son, Thomas James, infant daughter, Yvonne; two brothers, Bill Case and Virgil Case and three sisters, Lucille Woolard, Violet Case and Polly Case. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Joe Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at First Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to DuQuoin Saddle Club or DuQuoin First Baptist Church. Pyatt Funeral Home DuQuoin, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
