Sylvia Kay Batson-Boggs' Obituary
Sylvia Kay Batson-Boggs passed away Friday evening, February 27, 2009, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Kay was awesomely competent without being smug; she was determined without being bossy; and morally certain without being judgmental. She was First Lady of El Hasa Shriners in 1999; 1000 hour volunteer at Sr. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, W.Wa.; a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all. Kay is survived by her loving husband of 51 years James E. Boggs; son and daughter-in-law James Todd and Sue Ann Boggs; grandsons Justin and Wyatt; brother Allen (Linda) and sister Debbie Smith. Kay was born in DuQuoin, Illinois, June 29, 1938, to Jake and Clarice Fike Batson who preceded her in death.Kay graduated Class of 1956 from DHS. Our profound thanks to all who expressed sympathy through cards, flowers and phone calls during her long battle. A celebration of life and gathering of family and friends will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, Ill. On Saturday, May 9, 2009, from 2:00 to 5:00 o'clock.
