Susan K. Simpson's Obituary
Susan K. Simpson, age 66, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL. Susan was born on September 18, 1950 in Ohio, a daughter to Lester Ray "Les" and Ella "June" (Thomas) Albright. On June 28, 1969, she married James "Mike" Simpson, Sr. in Hopedale, OH and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2009. She was of the Methodist faith. Susan was a homemaker, member of the Eagles Lodge #2522, Pinckneyville, IL, enjoyed fishing and dearly loved her children, grandchildren and her dog, Buddy Holly. Survivors include her two sons, James Michael (Tina) Simpson, Jr. of Pinckneyville, IL and Richard L. Simpson of Pinckneyville, IL; a daughter, Leslie (Doug) Bird of Pinckneyville, IL; her mother-in-law, Martha (Reverend Sam) Betts of Cadiz, OH; numerous brothers and sisters; two sisters-in-law, Kathie (Dean) Yocum of Jacobsburg, OH and Vickie Mellott of Barton, OH; seven grandchildren, Sheldon Simpson, Ashley Davis, Darrah (Mikey) Craig, Morgan Simpson, Jacob Simpson, Daniel Kuhnert, and Elizabeth Grace Carolyn Simpson; four great-grandchildren, Tyson, Brynlee, Abel and Mariah; and many nieces, nephews and 'adopted' children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Susan's wishes were to be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
