Stuart "Stu" Wright's Obituary
Stuart "Stu" Wright, age 74, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015 in his home. Stu was born on October 12, 1941 in Battle Creek, MI, a son to Stuart R. and Harriett (Hutchinson) Wright, Sr. On June 24, 1961, he married Sharon Kay Pursell in Johnston City, IL and she survives. He attended the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. Stu had worked as a coal miner and electrician at Consol Burning Star #4 for over 25 years. He was highly involved with the gun industry and Wright's Inc, Pinckneyville, IL and was a world renowned Winchester Model 12 expert. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and ATA. Stu had served as a board member on the Pinckneyville Community High School Board, was instrumental in the foundation of high school shooting sports in the state of Illinois, coached the Pinckneyville High School Shooting Sports Team to a National Championship, coached the Pinckneyville Optimist Swim Team, and helped in the foundation of the Pinckneyville Band Parents Organization. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loved working with young people. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sharon Wright of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, Scott (Molly) Wright of Pinckneyville, IL and Stu Wright of Caledonia, MS; a sister, Kay (Pete) Hansen of Billings, MT; six grandchildren, Samantha (Ryan) Schupbach of Pinckneyville, IL, Shannon (Josh) Hauser of Burlington, WI, Sydney Wright of Pinckneyville, IL, Trenton (Linnie) Hagene of Dowell, IL, Stuart Wright of Caledonia, MS and Nathaniel Wright of Caledonia, MS; three great-grandchildren, Ayla & Lexi Hagene and Stuart Wright,V; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Steve Wright; and a brother, Larry Wright. A memorial gathering will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 2, 2015. Gathering at 1:30 p.m., Remarks at 2:00 p.m. and Ending at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pinckneyville Shooting Sports. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of arrangements.
