Sonia-Anne Marie (Crowley) Lofley's Obituary
Sonia-Anne Marie (Crowley) Lofley, 31, passed away peacefully in her home May 19, 2022. She was born April 19, 1991, at Ft. Campbell, KY.
She is survived by her husband 1SG Larry Lofley of the 82nd Airborne, Fort Bragg, NC and daughter Penelope Lofley. Her parents Paul Crowley, Columbus, Indiana, and Shelly (Carney) Crowley Pinckneyville, Illinois. In-laws Keith and Vonda Lofley of Huntington, Utah, Sonia-Anne is the granddaughter of John and Sonia Carney of Pinckneyville, Illinois and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Sonia-Anne and Larry married May 26, 2012, in Pinckneyville, Illinois. Her proudest accomplishment was the birth of their daughter Penny who was the love of her life.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Jim and Else Crowley of Remus, Michigan, Larry and Doris Jones of Huntington, Utah, and Jack Lofley of Elmo, Utah.
Sonia-Anne spent her entire life associated with the military. She dedicated much of her time as a young child to the soldiers and military families. She had over 2,500 volunteer hours by the time she was 13 years old. She continued her volunteerism into adulthood with the Family Readiness Support Group alongside her mother, daughter and other spouses. Being a Girl Scout leader in her community was one of her passions, starting a new troop so Penny could have the same experience she did. Following in her mom and Granny's footsteps. She recently completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and wrote an 82nd Airborne history for her husband's unit as her thesis. She loved to cook and was always looking for new recipes until her final days.
Celebration of life will be held July 31, 2022, First United Methodist Church, 315 West South St., Pinckneyville, Illinois, Visitation 1:30-2:30, service starting at 2:30, the place she called home after living all over the world traveling with the military. She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery, date TBD.
