Shirley Pritchett's Obituary
Shirley Ann Pritchett, age 87, of Pinckneyville, IL passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 12:10 p.m., in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Shirley was born on April 22, 1937 in Pinckneyville, Illinois, a daughter to William and Mabel (Tanner) Smith. She was a 1955 graduate of Pinckneyville Community High School. Throughout her life, Shirley continued her education through community classes at Rend Lake College and earned a real estate license.
Shirley worked in the banking industry for many years throughout Perry County, sold real estate for a time, and eventually worked at and retired from Universal Music manufacturing in Pinckneyville. After her official retirement, she continued to work part time at the Perry County Health Department and the Pinckneyville High School, among others.
Shirley was a devout Christian. She was a longtime member of Beaucoup Baptist Church where she worked to disciple youth for many years. Later in life, she attended Oak Grove Baptist Church with her family.
Shirley enjoyed travel, and visited many of our United States, Mexico and several European countries. She also enjoyed reading, particularly the Bible, playing cards, baking and decorating cakes and time spent with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Toby Jones (special friend, Anita Starkweather) and Lance Jones (special friend, Melissa Slattery), both of Pinckneyville, IL; one brother, William (Marilyn) Smith of Tamaroa, IL; four grandchildren, Ashley (Chloe) Jones of Pinckneyville, IL; Shelby Jones of Collinsville, IL; Kalen Jones of Pinckneyville, IL and Layne Jones of Coulterville, IL; four great grandchildren, Ella Jones, Sophia Jones, Asher Jones and Mason Jones; one niece, Phoebe Smith; one nephew, Billy Smith; along with several dear cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL with Brother Rob Mathis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church or Franklin Graham's Operation Christmas Child.
