Shirley R. Hemmer, age 72, of DuQuoin, IL passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008 at 2:06 a.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Carbondale, IL. Shirley was born on April 14, 1936 in DuQuoin, IL, a daughter to Dallas Ivan and Lillian M. (Kelley) Neal. On October 29, 1955, she married Edward H. Hemmer in DuQuoin, IL and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2002. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, DuQuoin, IL and was a homemaker. Survivors include many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Willard Neal and James "Bus" Neal, and a sister: Lucy Redman. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Michael Ebersohl officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, DuQuoin, IL.
