Sarah "Sally" Boyd's Obituary
Sarah B. Boyd passed away Friday Sept 4, 2020 at the Coulterville Care Center surrounded by her family.
Sarah Balentine Boyd, known to friends as Sally, was born June 8, 1939 to Earnest B and Agnes L Fulton (Robertson) at Sparta, IL. Sally was the youngest of three children, William R Fulton and Margaret Herzog. She attended the Sparta schools before her marriage to James W Boyd on July 27, 1957 and they shared 63 years of marriage. They are the parents of three sons, J Richard Boyd, Clyde T Boyd of Sparta and David W Boyd of Coulterville.
Sally and her family owned and operated Boyd Ag Inc at Coulterville until their retirement in 2001. Then they traveled by RV to Arizona in the winter and traveled the lower 48 in the summer while working for Link Truck Service of Sparta.
Sally was a member of Bethel Reformed Presbyterian Church of Sparta where she was active in the work of the church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was an active member of the Gideons Auxiliary. Sally participated actively in the home-makers extension in years past.
Sally is survived by her husband James W Boyd, sons J Richard (JaeAnn) Boyd, Clyde T (Sheryl) Boyd, David W (Karla) Boyd and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Sister Margaret Herzog, sister-in-law Betty Fulton, and several nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Agnes Fulton and her step-mother Lucille Fulton. Also by her brother William R Fulton and brother-in-law Eugene Herzog.
Funeral services will be held at Bethel Reformed Presbyterian Church, Sparta, IL on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alex Eppstein officiating. Face masks will be required. Interment will be in Coulterville Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Bethel Reformed Presbyterian Church, Sparta, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Face masks will be required.
Due to health concerns related to the Covid-19 virus and by the executive order signed by Governor J.B. Pritzker, attendance will be limited to 25 people and social distancing will be enforced.
Memorial donations may be made to the Gideons International.
