Ruth B. Talbert's Obituary
Ruth B. Talbert, age 84 years, 1 month and 4 days, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL. Ruth was born on May 26, 1927 in Coulterville, IL, a daughter to John and Lily (Dickerson) Meyer. On May 26, 1945, she married Marvin Edward Talbert in Belleville, IL and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2011. Ruth was a homemaker, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL where she was once a Sunday school teacher for many years and she enjoyed volunteering work at the church Thrift Store with her dear friend Velva Shubert. Ruth also loved working in her garden and flower beds, going to the Center to exercise with Velva, being outdoors and watching all of her grandkids play sports, especially baseball! Ruth is survived by one daughter, Betty (Carl) Smith of Coulterville, IL; one son, Tom (Lee Ann) Talbert of Coulterville, IL; one sister-in-law, Joan (Ray) Spinnie of Coulterville, IL; four grandchildren, Cathy (Rodney) Smith, Vicki Little, Joe (Shauna) Talbert, Jim Talbert; two step-grandchildren, Shannon Inman and Shaun Smith; six great grandchildren, Zach and Jordan Wright, Katie and Emily Little, and MacKenzi and Dylan Talbert; four step-great- grandchildren, Matthew and Maria Smith, Vanessa Prest and Ellie Smith; one step- great-great-granddaughter, Aubrey Phillips; and numerous nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Sr.; one son, Marvin "Eddie" Talbert, Jr.; one son-in-law, Jerry Strickland; five brothers, Dave, Ward, Ralph, Walter, and George Meyer; and two sisters, Helen Kahl and Maude Mueller. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Eunjoo Lee officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL.
