Ruth Mathenia's Obituary
Ruth Mathenia, age 91, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 4:25 a.m in Marion Rehab and Nursing, Marion, IL. Ruth was born on October 15, 1922 in Savannah, TN, a daughter to Eathel C. and Velma (Fitts) Haggard. On April 30, 1941, she married Reverend James O. Mathenia in Caruthersville, Mo and he preceded her in death on October 14, 2002. She was a member of the Winkle Baptist Church, Winkle, IL and dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, James (Toni) Mathenia of Freeport, IL, Robert (Jan) Mathenia of Marion, IL and Paul (Stephanie) Mathenia of Red Bud, IL; fourteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Betty Hicks; sister, Nadine (Slim) Crockett and infant brothers, John and E.C. Jr. Funeral services will be held at Winkle Baptist Church, Winkle, IL on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL Friends may call at Winkle Baptist Church, Winkle, IL on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Winkle Baptist Church or Passages Hospice. Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
