Ruth Bischoff Werger's Obituary
Our precious Ruth has found her way home waiting for the Lord's return.
Leaving momentarily, her devoted husband, Wilfred. A bond so close, a love so deep. Also mourning her absence, her step daughter, Kathryn, her dear friend Celine, Greg & Heather, her cousin Tim and his wife Connie and cousins Patrick & Theresa.
Predeceased by her parents, William & Charlotte Ann "Lottie" Bischoff, her brother Joe and Aunts Ida & Bertha.
Ruth grew up in Pinckneyville, Illinois and was very proud of that. After graduating she went on to get her degree in teaching. She enjoyed her students as they enjoyed Miss Bischoff. Ruth was a wonderful addition to the Pinckneyville school system. She would leave that career in 1980 to follow her heart all the way to Wildwood Alberta, Canada, to marry Wilfred. With a suitcase in hand, she was ready for the adventure. She never dreamed what would unfold. Together, there they farmed their beautiful, 1/2 section acreage. Hayfields, cattle, horses and domestic pets. Installing and repairing fences, rounding up the cattle, early morning feeds and milkings, welcoming new calves each year, tractor rides together, to gather the wood, hay bales and more.
Hard work and a deep love for each other combined with God's land would build an unbreakable bond between the two.
For the past several years they have made the long 2000 miles to their home here in Pinckneyville each winter where the weather is much warmer. They both looked forward to that trip each year. They were known around town with their trips to the library, post office, Walmart and more. Always on the move.
Up until a couple of years ago their health was showing signs of longevity. Sadly, things changed and frequent doctor and hospital visits became the norm. It's during these times that family and special people in their lives became very important. When Kathryn was unable to make the trip from Canada, they could rely on Greg and Heather to help out. Forever grateful for their ongoing support.
Ruth and Wilf's commitment to faith and God's promise of a better place left Ruth at peace as she passed on.
Not a goodbye, but, a farewell for now. She will be greatly missed by many.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in DuQuoin, IL on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Samuel Negrea officiating.
