Russell E. Winter's Obituary
Russell E. Winter, age 57, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2:50 p.m. after losing his battle with cancer.
Russell was born on February 27, 1961 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville, IL, son to Richard D. and Joan Margaret (Feahrs) Winter. On November 24, 1989, he married Barbara Jane Skidmore at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. Russell was a lifelong farmer and owned Winter Enterprise. Russell was a member of the First Christian Church, Pinckneyville, IL, where he served as a deacon and was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, Murphysboro, IL. He was all about his family and faith, nurturing both. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, geocaching, and playing cards with friends. He was an active supporter of Girl Scouts of America Troop # 8842 of Pinckneyville, IL. This lifelong member of Pinckneyville, IL will be sorely missed throughout the communities that knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Barbara; four daughters, Jennifer Winter of DuQuoin, IL, Stephany Winter of Pinckneyville, IL, Natasha Winter of Evansville, IN, and Hayley Winter of Pinckneyville, IL; one grandson, Andrew Lee Jett; one sister, Barbara W. (Michael) Starmer of Missoula, MT; his mother-in-law, Betty Skidmore of Pinckneyville, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David Winter, and his best friend and grandfather Henry O. Winter.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Phillips officiating. Interment will be at Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
