Rudolph Hilmar Arndt's Obituary
Rudolph Hilmar Arndt, age 88, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 12:57 p.m., at Herrin Hospital, Herrin, IL.
Rudolph was born on November 12, 1933 at Beloit, WI. He is a son to Richard R. and Martha (Froebel) Arndt. On February 14, 1994, he married Doris Mae Hannaford in Rockford, IL. He was a member of the Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, where he and his wife cleaned for over 16 years and was a member of their senior church group. He was an avid motorcycle rider and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He also was a member of the American Legion. Rudolph enjoyed square dancing, playing the organ, tinkering with things, and was an amateur ham radio operator. He made friends everywhere, and at the hospital they named him Dr. Google. Rudolph was an Electrical Engineer Designer for the Beloit Corporation, Beloit, WI.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Radio Operator during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Mae Arndt of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, David Arndt of Beloit, WI, and Daryl (Leslie) Arndt of Beloit, WI; four step-children, Jim (Mary Jane) Craft of Paso Robles, CA, Jackie (Brian) Pritchett of Goreville, IL, Jean (Jim) Pind of Anna, IL, and Jolene (Jeff) Skambraks of New Melle, MO; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be at Holts Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL at a later date. Military honors will be provided at the church by Pinckneyville VFW Post#2504 and the United States Army.
A memorial visitation will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
