Ruby E. McDonnough's Obituary
Ruby E. McDonnough, age 89, of Coulterville, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 1:45 p.m. in her home. Ruby was born on November 6, 1923 in Swanwick, IL, a daughter to Jessie and Dora (Gourdan) Sledger. On September 20, 1947, she married Neil McDonnough in Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1992. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church, Coulterville, IL and worked for many years at Spartan Printing in the bindery. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" working alongside her mother during WW II on PBY Catalina's in Atlanta, GA. Ruby loved animals, watching westerns on TV and reading Louis L'Amour books. She dearly loved spending time with her family. Survivors include three children, Colleen McDonnough of Coulterville, IL, Bruce (Gail) McDonnough of Coulterville, and Kerry (Ester) McDonnough of Port Lavaca, TX; four grandchildren children, Corey, Cody, Cedric and Marcie and three great-grandchildren, Cassie and Devin McDonnough and Kimbra. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Shawn McDonnough and a daughter, Sharon Parsons. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Kenneth Robinson officiating. Interment will be Oak Grove Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
