Ruby E. Cunningham's Obituary
Ruby Ernestine Cunningham, age 94, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 2:45 p.m. in Pinckneyville Health Care Center, Pinckneyville, IL. Ruby was born in Pinckneyville, IL on September 10, 1917, a daughter to Roy James and Georgia (Becker) Fannin. She was raised by her stepfather, Guy Neely and mother, Georgia. On August 29, 1937, she married Lloyd Cunningham and he survives. She was mostly a homemaker but was employed in various positions during her life. Ruby served as president of the Pinckneyville Senior Citizens Club for several years and was active in the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, IL, the Perry County Home Extension Association, Perry County Historical Society, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and her bridge club. She was a former Girl Scout leader and held several offices in parent-teacher associations. She was a member of the board of directors of the Perry County Gold Plate Program for several years and she loved to knit and crochet. Survivors include her husband of over 74 years, Lloyd Cunningham of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, Robert Cunningham of Boston, MA and Thomas of Austin, TX; a daughter, Janet (Wallace) Burnette of Aurora, CO; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather and sister, Mildred Ross. Funeral services will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday, March 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Charles Walden officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL. Friends may call at the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donation may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
