Roy A. Lipe's Obituary
Roy A. Lipe, age 65, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 5:03 p.m. in SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, Mount Vernon, IL.
Roy was born on October 4, 1955 in Pinckneyville, IL, a son to Wallace Irving and Dorothy Marie (Bauersachs) Lipe. On May 28, 1977, he married Patsy George at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. He was a member of Landmark Apostolic Church, Sparta, IL. He had worked at Spartan Printing, Sparta, IL and later in life as a truck driver. Roy spent almost 12 years volunteering as a firefighter at Pinckneyville Fire Department and served as a 2nd Lieutenant, was treasurer of the Fireman's Association and worked as an EMT with the Pinckneyville Ambulance Service for 10 years. He enjoyed farming, Nascar, gardening, and camping but his greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patsy Lipe of Pinckneyville, IL; two sons, Travis Allen (Renee) Lipe of Carbondale, IL and Matthew Eric (Katrina) Lipe of Carrollton, KY; a daughter, Pamela Gail (Aaron) Hill of Springfield, IL; a brother, Robert W. (Luann) Lipe of Pinckneyville, IL; two sisters, Alice J. Lipe of Emmaus, PA and Nancy D. (Larry) Wilbern of Pinckneyville, IL; and seven grandchildren, Amariah Lipe, Ariel Lipe, Alexis Lipe, Carson Lipe, Zane Lipe, Aliza Hill and Brielle Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at Landmark Apostolic Church, Sparta, IL on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Rice officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Visitation will be at Landmark Apostolic Church, Sparta, IL on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Landmark Apostolic Church Building Fund.
