Roy James Hamilton's Obituary
Roy J. Hamilton, age 95, of Marion, formerly of rural Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 08, 2008 at 12:38 a.m. in Parkway Manor, Marion, IL. Roy was born on May 22, 1912 in Ina, IL, a son to Stephen T. and Laura (Eaton) Hamilton. On May 5, 1931, he married Lois Nadine Arterberry in Charleston, MO and she preceded him in death on October 27, 1996 after 65 years of marriage. In his lifetime, he had worked as a lamp house man at the old and new Kathleen Mine, a school bus driver for #204 School District, and a chicken farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville for 50 years, U.M.W.A., Eastern Star, was a mason, a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and brother. Survivors include his son: Ed (Judy) Hamilton of Old DuQuoin, IL, daughter: Nadine Hamilton of Marion, IL where Roy had resided for the last 3 years, brother: Glenn Hamilton of Metamora, IL, four grandchildren: William Hamilton of New Hampshire, Susan (Peter) Milonis of Lebanon, TN, Beth (Bill) Johnson of Fort Worth, TX, Tracy (Bob) Dawes of Vienna, IL, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son: James Roy Hamilton, grandson: Stephen Thomas Hamilton, six sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Charles Boling officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin, IL. Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
