Rosie Lawless' Obituary
Rosie Lawless, 83, of Coulterville, IL passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:33 p.m., at Sparta Community Hospital Emergency Room, Sparta, IL.
Rosie was born on June 11, 1940, in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Charley and May (Coates) Giacomo. On April 15, 1961, she married James "Jim" Lawless and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1991. Rosie attended Winkle Baptist Church, Coulterville, IL. She had worked at Spartan Lite Metals, Sparta, IL, was the owner/operator of Lawless Cafe, Coulterville, IL, alongside her husband, and at Tiff's Cafe, Marissa, IL. Rosie loved cooking, socializing, hunting, fishing, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6865 Ladies Auxiliary, Coulterville, IL. She loved spending time with grandkids and friends and she never met a stranger. Rosie truly enjoyed mushroom hunting, collecting a thousand in a year once.
Survivors include two sons, Jim (Kay) Lawless of Coulterville, IL, and Tom Lawless of Coulterville, IL; one daughter, Janette (Ronnie) Kinkade of Cookeville, TN; two brothers, Pete Giacomo and Jim Giacomo; sisters, Mary Schaefer and Betty Aaron; three grandchildren, Tomiya Lawless, Megan (Jon) Morris, and Mandy (Byron) Kinkade; six great-grandchildren, Audrey, Austin, Jaxon, Abbie, Livie, and Bryar; two sisters-in-law, Launa Giacomo and Susie Giacomo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Eule Giacomo, Floyd Giacomo, Ted Giacomo, and Butch Giacomo; and two sisters, Elizabeth Giacomo and Vera Reese.
Funeral services will be held at Winkle Baptist Church, Coulterville, IL on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., with Brother Jeff Downard officiating. Interment will be in Coulterville City Cemetery, Coulterville, IL.
Visitation will be held at Winkle Baptist Church on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Coulterville V.F.W. Post # 6865 Ladies Auxiliary.
